初中初三英语课本（牛津译林版）
以下都是课本原句：
1）
a)Ithink people should know that life on Mars would be different from that on theEarth.
=b)Ithink people should know the differences of the life on Mars from that on theEarth.
书上说a)=b)。
对此，我有3个疑问：
是：句a)中life onMars 没定冠词the,为什么b)句中变成了加了定冠词the的，即 the lifeon Mars 呢？如何修改才能保证a)和b)含义相同呢？
是：句b)中的from含义是什么？和from...to...中的from 是“同一个”含义使用方法吗？句b)中的from =than 吗？句b)结构看不明白，特别是这里的from看不明白？！
我觉得应该是I thinkpeople should know the differences of the life BETWEEN on Mars AND on the Earth. - 对吗？
另外，书上又出现了：
c)问：What doesthe writer think of life on Mars ?
d)答：Betterthan life on the Earth ?
非常奇怪：注意，这两句中life前都没定冠词the, 和上面的句a),句b)又不同了！！
其中，我的3个疑问是：
句c)这个问句我看不明白what和think of之间的关系，如何划分句子结构成分？这里的of=about吗？
句d)答句中的life可否用it替换？这里的life是不可以用one, 不可以用that替换的吧？？
为何句c)问句和句d)答句中life前又没了定冠词the, 不同于上面的句a)和句b)呢？
以上，（2），（3），（4），（5），（6）等都是疑惑的地方，麻烦老师逐一解答。

2) I think people should know that life on Mars would be different from that on the Earth. 改写：I think people should know the differences between life on Mars and that on the Earth.
3) I wonder how many people would like to move to Mars. 改写：3) I wonder what is the number of people willing to move to Mars.
4) life on Mars 和 life on the earth 中，life都是不可数名词。课文在二个地方对于地球上的生活，一处用泛指，一处用特指。这个问题就只能问原文作者了。that只能替代特指名词，即that on the Earth = the life on the Earth.
